eLearning on Tuesday

Scecina will have an eLearning Day on Tuesday, January 28, 2020.

During a portion of the day, teachers and staff of Scecina will participate in a spiritual retreat with colleagues from the other East Deanery schools.

Students will receive information in Canvas and from their teachers about assignments due for the eLearning Day.
 
St. John's Bible

On Monday, Jan. 27, Scecina will host a volume of the St. John's Bible on Monday, thanks to our friends at Marian University.  If you are not familiar with this work of art, please see here:  https://www.saintjohnsbible.org/

Students will be able to attend the presentation during Catholic Theology classes throughout the day.
 
Rising Stars of Indiana

Rising Stars is a program of the Indiana Association of High School Principals. It honors high school juniors for academic achievement.
 
'Newsies' shirts
Get your "Newsies" shirts to celebrate Scecina's Spring musical, on stage March 20 and 21.

Featuring a design by Scecina senior Walter Egan, these baseball-style shirts are $15 each for students and $20 for others. They are printed locally and the shirts are from an ethically certified chain, keeping with our social justice core values and the theme of the show.

Key Club Coat Drive

The Scecina Key Club Annual Coat Drive is going on now!

Turn in new or gently used coats, hats, gloves, and scarves in your Catholic Theology room. The coats will go to Catholic Charities of Indianapolis.

Each time you donate, you will be entered into a raffle drawing for gift cards.

Donations accepted through Monday, February 3.

The Spirit Shop will be closed through Tuesday, January 28, 2020. It will re-open on Wednesday morning, January 29, 2020.
 
Catholic Schools Week Essay Contest


Scecina is sponsoring the Catholic Schools Week essay contest open to all students. The winning essay will be published on the Scecina website, and the writer will receive $150. The winner will be announced at Mass the following week.

Unique museum opportunity
The Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago is offering Scecina students a unique opportunity - a tour of the museum with a behind-the-scenes look into the exhibits and workings of the museum.

If you are interested, please see Mrs. Smith in room 2 for an application. Applications are due January 31, 2020. Up to five students can go.

Scecina Memorial High School, a co-educational Catholic high school of the Archdiocese of Indianapolis, is seeking a Tuition Manager.

Host a student from France
Two French students, a boy and a girl, are interested in attending Scecina during the spring semester for a month each. They are coming through Inspired Gateways, a French Catholic organization based in Paris.

Interested in going to China?
Over the past two years, Scecina has hosted 30 Chinese students from Chuyang College (High School) in Hangzhou.

For June 2020, Chuyang has invited Scecina students to China. Chinese schools are in session until mid-July, so Scecina students would attend school in Hangzhou. Each would have an English-speaking mentor student. Scecina students would learn about China and its culture and begin to learn Chinese if they wish.

The trip would include sightseeing. A trip to the Great Wall of China and the Forbidden City are planned.

for Booster Club:
Winners all year long!

Support Scecina Crusader athletics! The Scecina Memorial High School Raffle for the Booster Club creates winners all year long. There are monthly drawings for $300 and $100 throughout the school year, and a final drawing for $1,000 on May 15.

Tickets are $50! Get your tickets at St. Francis Hall (east of the main school building), the Athletic Office or at

2019-20 Sports Passes
Sports passes are on sale in the Athletic Office. Passes are $75 each or $125 for two. Passes allow entry into all Scecina home sporting events except City tournaments and Sectionals.

Panama: June 2020
The eight-day excursion will include visiting Panama City, hiking in El Valle de Anton, taking a boat ride to Monkey Island, canoeing on the Rio Chagres, and snorkeling in Portobelo.

European Spring Break Trip
Is your student interested in traveling? Do they dream of Paris? Mr. Getty and Mrs. Rosswurm will be taking students to Europe for Spring Break 2021! The trip will take students to France, Germany, and the Alps and will include a trip to Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site.
Inspired Gateways
Scecina is into its third year of partnership with the French foreign exchange program, Inspired Gateways. This Catholic organization gives French high schoolers the opportunity to discover life in America. Students stay 6-8 weeks with host families in the Scecina Community.

Crusader Cafe
Scecina has a full-service cafeteria serving breakfast and lunch. Scecina participates in the federally funded free and reduced program. All meals and food items are prepared in our kitchen by the awesome Scecina cafeteria staff. Breakfast is served from 7 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. on school days.
