We’re pleased to welcome Dr. Christopher Walsh as Interim President of Scecina Memorial High School! As he begins his time at Scecina, we asked Dr. Walsh to share a little about himself, what has stood out to him already, and what he’s looking forward to as part of the Crusader community.
One thing made an immediate impression: the people.
“Everyone- teachers, staff, students, administrators, alumni, parents- they have all been so kind,” Dr. Walsh shared. “Scecina radiates an environment that is professional while being warm, open, and friendly.”
A longtime Catholic educator, Dr. Walsh says he is looking forward to the everyday moments in the life of a school- moments that help each of us “grow into the person that God is calling us to be.” He is also inspired by the opportunity Catholic education provides to help students and families fulfill their dreams.
Scecina’s belief that students can “go anywhere from here” resonates with him, too. For Dr. Walsh, it means graduates can pursue their dreams with confidence, knowing they have been educated in a caring, compassionate, Christ-centered environment where student success comes first.
And there’s more to our new Interim President than his career in education! Dr. Walsh is also a musician and writer who has written and recorded music and recently self-published his first fiction novel.
A few more quick hits: He’s a coffee drinker, a night owl by nature (but an early bird by necessity), would love to visit Egypt, enjoys taking country drives with his wife, and grew up a Louisville Cardinals fan—which means when asked to choose between red and gold, red wins!
