Sacred Music Concert
Scecina's Advanced and Beginning Choirs performed in the annual Sacred Music Concert Thursday night at Holy Spirit Catholic Church. It was the first Scecina music concert since COVID and was
well attended.
Thank you to Music Director Chris Ritchie for the inspirational concert. Also, thank you to Holy SpiritΒ Music Director Christian Kuphal, who accompanied Scecina's choirs on piano and flute.

School Pictures
Picture Day is Wednesday, October 20. Students will be
permitted to either dress up for pictures or wear their school uniform.
Students have received their order forms today. Please return them on October 20 if you want to purchase your school photos.

This week in Crusader sports- Friday Night Football tonightΒ β Scecina vs.Β Cardinal Ritter. The game will be played at Roncalli HS starting at 7:00 p.m.
- Cross Country Sectionals will take place on Saturday, Oct. 9, at Mount Vernon HS.Β The boys will run first starting at 9:45 a.m.
- Freshman volleyball will play Cathedral in the City Semi-Finals on Saturday at
11:00 a.m. at Heritage Christian.
- The Girls Soccer Team will play in the Sectional finals at 7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9.Β The Crusaders will play Heritage Christian at Triton Central. Admission is $6.00.

StuCo Sock-tober Sock Drive
The Student Council is hosting a sock drive
to help our homeless and vulnerable community prepare for the colder months. Socks will be donated to Wheeler mission. Collections will begin Oct 19-Oct 22!
Any student or staff member who contributes new, unwashed socks will be allowed to have a free dress-out day on November 2. Students will be entered into drawings for gift cards.
Please consider helping StuCo with this effort by picking up some new men's or women's socks over fall break.

Basketball callout
All boys interested in playing basketball, please
gatherΒ Tuesday, October 19, immediately after school in the cafeteria for a call-out meeting with Coach Scott Miller. The meeting will be from 3:10 p.m. until 3:25 p.m.
Anyone interested needs to be in attendance.

Oct. 26 mandatory testing
Crusader 9th, 10th, and 11th graders will be participating in a mandatory assessment on Tuesday, October 26.
9th Graders will take the Pre-ACT. 10th and 11th Graders will take the PSAT.

Vaccine and flu shot clinics
Scecina will host two COVID vaccination and
flu shots clinics for students and staff. The clinics, administered by Franciscan Health, will be from 9:30 a.m. to noonΒ Β Thursday, Oct. 28, and from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1. Additional details will be provided later.
We are also going to invite East Deanery parishes and schools to invite members of their communities to participate.

When Cascade High School volleyball star Josie Jones (left, above)* suffered a head injury recently, the Crusaders reached out. Crusaders coach Kevin
Griffin's daughter Betsy (right above), a 2013 Scecina graduate, also had suffered a brain injury at age 11.

2021-22 Crusader sports passes are on sale in the athletic office. Passes allow you to enter all Scecina home games that are not city or state tournament games. $75 each or 2 for $125

The next drawing is Oct. 15 for $300. There are 15 drawings left for $100 and $300 each month, and for another grand prize of $1,000 on May 15, 2022.

Part-time cafeteria position
Scecina is seeking a part-time cafeteria assistant.
The person for this job will assist in food preparation, serving food to students at lunch, cleaning and stocking the serving line, cleaning dishes and food prep areas, and other duties assigned by the cafeteria manager. This is an hourly, part-time school year position.
